  • The Guide and the Carved Ships

The player guide was written from the sim's own numbers, the welcome page opened on a clip of a frigate making sail, the great ships gained carved bows and sterns, and the open sea learned what to do…

  • Masts Go by the Board

Chain shot now brings masts down one at a time and they fall over the side, the tutorial became two, and the gun stations show their loading and your hits.

  • Signals and the Battle Builder

Ships you leave behind now sail in squadron and answer flag signals, struck ships became derelicts, and the Battle Builder replaced the list of engagements.

  • The Shared Sea

The open sea became one sea for everyone, round a walled capital called Corona, with a chart that stays blank until you explore it and ship's boats that can take prizes.

  • The Fight Goes On

Engagements stopped ending, a tutorial arrived to teach the controls, and the Co-op Arena opened as a standing room that anyone can join.

  • Captains and Rooms

The Cabal's ships got captains who sail and fight them, and members can now fight each other in multiplayer rooms.

  • Engagements and the Shipyard

The busiest day yet: the first engagement, the Frigate Duel, a shipyard with a page and drawings for every hull, and battles cut from fifty minutes to five.

  • The World Gets a Harbour

The sim moved into a home of its own: Quarterdeck became one site, with the world at /world/ and a community site around it, at qd.navalgaming.com.

  • The Guns Speak

The ships got guns, crews to fight them and an enemy to fight: every ship but yours now flies for the Notorious Plantation Cabal.

  • The Yards Take the Wind

The sails stopped being a speed setting and started being sails: the yards now catch the wind, back, push the ship astern and turn it.

  • A Ship on an Empty Sea

Quarterdeck began as a single ship on a blank sea in the browser, sailed by hand against a shifting wind.
